Games Convention Asia (GCA) is the Asia Pacific region’s first and only platform for electronic gaming. The event will be open to the general public and is scheduled for the 18-20 September at Suntec Centre Singapore. The event’s concept involves a four pillar theme to cater to everyone interested in electronic gaming. The quote below will give you an idea of what to expect.

“The 4 pillar concept of the show is unique – it brings together the whole market chain in only one event. Starting with the Game developers – having their own platform with the GC Asia Conference – over the publishers – finding their place in the business centre – to the casual and hardcore gamer – enjoying the latest games in the dazzle of the public hall.”

MTV Asia is the official media partner of the event and an excellent complement to the theme and feel of GCA. Interested parties can sign up at the GCA Website for a chance to win a pair of the 40 MTV @ GCA VIP passes being given away.

We recently had the opportunity of attending the World Cyber Games 2008 press conference. The event finals will be held from 7-10 August at Suntec Convention Centre, this year’s theme is racing oriented.

Alan Chou regional marketing manager for Xbox 360 revealed that a new “program” for Singapore would be launched at that more would be revealed in the upcoming finals. he was tight-lipped so that was all we could find out for now. If you don’t live under a shell you’ve probably heard that Square Enix’s eagerly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII has just been announced for the Xbox 360. The title was previously a PS3 exclusive so you can imagine the shock, joy and outrage that erupted at the announcement. PS3 supporters are disappointed that the game is no longer an exclusive while Xbox supporters are pleased that they’ll get to experience Final Fantasy XIII.

Microsoft has announced a price drop for the 20GB Xbox360, scheduled to retail at US$299, at the same time ushering in a 60GB Xbox360 at US$349. This is expected to take effect next month in US, so by the time it affects us, it’s probably just in time for the holiday season.
